From 5 to 9 December, N-SIDE representatives Phillipe Chevalier, CEO and Sébastien Coppe, Vice President Life Sciences will be part of a Belgian delegation that will be heading to Japan as part of an economic mission led by HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium to strengthen business partnerships between Belgium and Japan.
During the Belgian economic mission to Japan, technology will be in the spotlight as well as several key sectors in which N-SIDE plays an active role: Energy and Life sciences.
Our CEO Philippe Chevalier will outline to Japanese energy players how we can accelerate their transition towards renewables and electrification by enabling leading grids and market players in making better, faster and safer decisions.
Our Vice President Life Sciences Sébastien Coppe will meet customers and partners active in the clinical supply chain to further increase the pharmaceutical R&D efficiency of Japanese companies.

Panel session: Challenges and opportunities when expanding life sciences business into Japan
Philippe Chevalier is CEO at N-SIDE, a deeptech company empowering organizations in the Life Sciences and Energy sectors he founded in 2000. Philippe holds a PhD degree from MIT obtained in 1992 and started his career as a faculty member of the University of Chile in Santiago, Chile. He later served as President of the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE) and the Louvain Institute of Data Analysis and Modelling in economics and statistics. His main research interests concern stochastic models for supply chain management. He published articles in several leading scientific journals such as Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operations Research or Management Science.
Sébastien Coppe has been leading the N-SIDE Life Sciences activities for 10 years, providing optimization services to more than 80 pharmaceutical companies. He has been supporting pharmaceutical companies in their change management journey towards digitalization and in implementing and benefitting from using an advanced analytics communication platform. He is passionate about increasing Pharma R&D efficiency, leveraging data and artificial intelligence to achieve waste reduction, end-to-end clinical supply chain optimization and proactive risk assessment for patients.Sébastien has a Master of Engineering in Applied Mathematics. He obtained his PhD by creating a pre-diagnostic tool for patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other kinds of dementia, by designing a mathematical modelling of the patients’ brain behaviour.
